New Delhi. What Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who scored a lot of runs in T20 cricket, failed to do in their entire careers, Tilak Verma did at the age of 22. The Mumbai batsman scored a brilliant century in the fourth T20 match against South Africa on Friday. He played an innings of 120 runs off 47 balls. This is Tilak Verma’s century in his second consecutive T20I match. With this, Tilak became only the fifth batsman in the world to score a century in two consecutive T20 International matches. This is Tilak’s 20th T20I match.
The fourth T20 match between India and South Africa was played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg late on Friday evening. Bharat won the toss in this match and batted first. Sanju Samson, who was out with zero points in the last two games, had to deal a tough blow to the South African bowlers this time. His fellow opener Abhishek Sharma also supported him well. Both created a partnership of 73 runs in 5.5 overs. In this regard, Abhishek was eliminated after scoring 36 runs off 18 balls. After this wicket, there was no relief for South Africa, rather a tsunami hit the field. Tilak Verma, who came to bat at number three, batted faster than Sanju Samson and completed his century in 41 balls. He had played an innings of 100 runs in the last game.
Sanju’s record reached the same level within 8 days
Sanju Samson set the record of scoring two consecutive T20I centuries on November 8. This record was set on November 15 by Tilak Verma. After scoring a century in the third T20 match against Bangladesh in October, Sanju Samson scored a century in the first T20 match against South Africa on November 8.
Tilak becomes the fifth batsman to score two consecutive centuries
Tilak Verma has become only the fifth batsman in the world to score a century in T20 International matches. Before him, only Sanju Samson, Phil Salt of England, Riley Rossow of South Africa and Gustave Macon of France could achieve this feat.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the two batsmen who have scored the most runs in T20 international matches but have missed consecutive centuries. Kohli could only score one century in his entire T20I career. Rohit has scored five centuries in his T20I career.
