New Delhi. French car manufacturer Citroen recently launched its car in an entirely new segment in India. This is a vehicle segment in which previously only premium vehicles were available. But now the company has launched its new car and given customers the option of a new model, on the other hand, a new war has begun in the market in this segment.
More than 50% of the cars sold on the market are small cars and there is competition between companies to bring cars of this type to the market. However, Citroen did something different, which proves that the company is preparing to compete with other companies in the market with complete planning.

Citroen Basalt is in direct competition with the Tata Curve, but in the market this car also competes with vehicles like Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The company has launched it at a price that makes it the most practical car in its segment.

Citroen Basalt has been launched in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price of just Rs 7.99 lakh. The price of its top model increases to Rs 13.83 lakh. From a price point of view, it represents a better alternative to Creta and Seltos. The price is also much lower than that of Tata Curve, which ranges between Rs 10-19 lakh. Additionally, this car has also received a 4-star safety rating from BNCAP, which is better than many cars in this price segment.
The exterior is amazing
The design of the Citroen Basalt is in a sporty coupé style and is somewhat reminiscent of the C3 Aircross. It is based on the same platform as the C3 Aircross and its front profile is also very similar to the C3 Aircross. The front features X-shaped LED daytime running lights and LED projector headlights, which combine with the clamshell hood to create a muscular look. The side profile features folding door handles, 16-inch alloy wheels, angular wheel arches and a sloping roofline. At the rear there are new LED taillights with 3D effect, a sloped rear window and silver underrun protection on the bumper.
Interior design and equipment
There is also a view of the C3 Aircross in the interior. It features a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Citroen Basalt has new features such as automatic climate control, wireless charging, LED headlights, electrically adjustable and folding ORVM, sliding front center armrest, winged rear headrest and adjustable lower leg support. All these features were provided for the first time in this segment.
Engine and performance
Two engine options are available for the Citroen Basalt. The first engine is a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 82 horsepower and a maximum torque of 115 Nm. This engine has the option of a 5-speed manual transmission. The company claims a mileage of up to 18 km per liter.
The second engine option is a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that offers 110 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque (6-speed manual gearbox) or 205 Nm of torque (6-speed AT gearbox). The claimed mileage of this engine is 19.5 km per liter with manual gearbox and 18.7 km per liter with AT gearbox. The company has started delivering this car from October 31st.
