New Delhi. IPL has announced the player auction date. This player auction will take place this year in the Saudi Arabian city of Jedrah. 1574 players registered for the auction on November 24th and 25th. Of these, 1,165 are Indian and 409 are foreign cricketers. After India, South Africa has the highest number of cricketers in the list.
Like last year, the Indian Premier League has decided to hold the auction abroad this time too. More than 1500 players have registered for this auction. Of these, bids can be placed on around 200 players. For this reason it is also called IPL Mega Auction. The names of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who will captain the IPL 2024, are also up for bid in this auction. These three cricketers have not been retained for IPL 2025. Names like Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj will also feature in the auction list.

91 players from South Africa…
After India, South Africa has the highest number of IPL auctions with 91 players. Afterwards, 76 players from Australia, 52 from England and 76 from New Zealand registered. 33 players from West Indies and 29 each from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have also registered their names.

Among the players participating in the IPL auction, 320 are capped and 1224 are uncapped. Players are considered players who have played at least one international match. A maximum of 48 players come from India. Cricketers from Italy and the United Arab Emirates have also registered a name each for this auction.

All 10 teams have retained 46 players for IPL 2025. Two teams, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, have maintained the maximum number of 6-6 players. Punjab Kings have retained at least 2 players.
