New Delhi. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched its first flex-fuel motorcycle, Honda CB300F Flex-Fuel. It is said to be India’s first 300cc flex-fuel motorcycle. This motorcycle will be available in India at a price of ₹ 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and can be purchased through the company’s BigWing dealer channel.
Although this is Honda’s first flex-fuel motorcycle in India, it is not the first time that Honda has made a flex-fuel motorcycle. Honda has already sold more than 7 million flex-fuel motorcycles in Brazil. Interestingly, TVS was the first company to introduce a flex-fuel motorcycle in India, launching the Apache RTR 200 Fi E100. However, due to the lack of availability of Flex Fuel in the country, it could never be sold. Honda has also not yet announced the delivery date for the CB300F Flex Fuel.
Engine and functions
The Honda CB300F flex-fuel motorcycle is powered by a 293.52 cc, oil-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder PGM-FI engine that supports up to E85 fuel (85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline). This engine produces a power of 24.5 HP and a maximum torque of 25.9 Nm. It also features an anti-hopping clutch and a 6-speed gearbox.
This motorcycle looks similar to the version already sold in India. For safety reasons, it has disc brakes on both wheels, with a 276mm front disc brake and a 220mm rear disc brake. It also features dual-channel ABS and Honda’s Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which contributes to better handling. Talking about the suspension, it features a gold USD front fork and a five-stage adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The motorcycle also features a full LED lighting system for better visibility.
Digital functions and intelligent ethanol display
In addition, the Honda CB300F Flex Fuel has a digital instrument cluster where the driver can adjust the brightness. The digital instrument panel displays information such as speed, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, dual odometer, gear position and clock. What’s special is that it also has a smart ethanol indicator that gives a signal when there is more than 85 percent ethanol in the fuel, allowing the driver to control the quality of the fuel.
The launch of this motorcycle is an important step for the Indian automobile industry that will advance flex fuel technology.
