New Delhi. Batsman KL Rahul and reserve wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel will soon fly to Australia. Both will join the Indian A team in Australia. The second four-day unofficial Test match between India A and Australia A will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from November 7. Both players will be sent to Australia initially so that they can spend time on the Australian field ahead of the five-match Border-Gavaskar series starting November 22.
Experienced right-handed batsmen KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel were part of the Indian team for the New Zealand series. Rahul had played the opening game of this series but Jurel, who made his debut against England earlier this year, didn’t get a chance in any game after Rishabh Pant’s return. The Indian team management wants to give every player selected for the tour an opportunity to spend time on the field to deal with the injury problem. Especially the reserve players as this Border-Gavaskar series will last seven weeks.
The BCCI Senior Selection Committee on Tuesday decided to send Rahul and Jurel to Australia. The India A team will play the second unofficial test match against Australia A from Thursday. The Indian team will leave for Australia in two groups to take part in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India’s tour of Australia is important for the WTC final.
