New Delhi. Nowadays, there are tons of two-wheelers and four-wheelers being sold across the country. While the braking system on two-wheelers is mainly used as a safety feature, safety is very important on four-wheelers. However, there are many such models in the country, which are in high demand but prove to be weak in terms of safety.
Most of them include Maruti models that sell well in the market but fail crash tests. Tell us four such cars which have received very poor ratings in crash tests but people buy them indiscriminately in the market.
Maruti Ertiga only has a 1-star safety rating
Maruti’s popular 7-seater Ertiga has received just a 1-star safety rating in the NCAP global crash test. Ertiga scored 23.63 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection, while it scored just 19.40 out of 49 for child occupant protection. This car is the best seller in the 7-seater segment but has proven to be weak in terms of safety. The starting price ex-showroom for Ertiga is Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
Nexa Ignis also only gets one star in terms of safety
The Nexa dealer’s entry-level Ignis car also only received a safety rating of 1 star in the Global NCAP crash test. It received 16.48 out of 34 points for occupant protection for adults, while it only received 3.86 out of 49 points for occupant protection for children. The starting price ex-showroom for Ignis is Rs 5.84 lakh.
S-Presso also lags behind when it comes to security
Maruti’s S-Presso mini-SUV has also received a 1-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. It received 20.03 out of 34 points for occupant protection for adults and 3.52 out of 49 points for occupant protection for children. The starting price ex-showroom for S-Presso is Rs 4.27 lakh.
WagonR is the most popular but lacks security
Maruti WagonR, one of the most popular cars in the country, has also received a 1-star safety rating in the NCAP global crash test. It received 19.69 out of 34 points for occupant protection for adults, while it only achieved 3.40 out of 49 points for occupant protection for children. The starting price ex-showroom for WagonR is Rs 5.55 lakh. In the first six months of this year, almost 100,000 units of this car were sold, but this car is also far behind in terms of safety.
Pay attention to this before purchasing
If you are planning to buy a car, be sure to check its safety rating before purchasing. The safety ratings of many popular cars sold on the market are very poor. If you want the full value of your money in such a situation, then include security in the list too.
