New Delhi. The Indian cricket team’s two consecutive defeats in the Test series against New Zealand have caused uproar everywhere. Not only has Team India lost the Test series, but their hopes of reaching the World Test Championship final have also suffered a setback. Two days before the third Test, the Indian team management on Wednesday called up 35 net bowlers, including various types of spinners, for the match against New Zealand at Wankhede.
The Indian Express has learned that the team management has asked the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to allow net bowlers during India’s first training session after the two-day break. The Rohit Sharma-led team has already lost the three-Test series after defeats in Bengaluru and Pune. India are keen to avoid a clean sweep and have also demanded a turnaround for the third and final Test.
The team management had already informed all players that there would be no optional training before the test but would be mandatory for everyone. The last minute request to appoint additional net bowlers was accepted with special attention to the spinners. New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner constantly caused problems for the Indian batsmen in the second Test. The left-arm spinner had taken 13 wickets in Pune.
India lost at home for the first time in 12 years
The Indian team had not lost in the Test series at home in the last 12 years. The New Zealand team had also not won a Test match in India for 35 years. For the first time in 68 years, the New Zealand team won a Test series against India in India.
