Bareilly: The enthusiasm for electric vehicles is gradually decreasing in the market, mainly due to the lack of reliability of these vehicles. Frequent incidents such as fires and battery explosions have raised questions about the safety of electric vehicles. On the one hand, governments talk about promoting these vehicles, but not much attention is paid to their safety and quality. Even with cheaper and more popular electric vehicles such as e-rickshaws, risks still exist due to non-compliance with standard safety measures and the risk of tipping over is also high.
Following some recent incidents, strict action is being taken against manufacturers of electric scooters. If companies do not comply with the required standards, they will be fined.
Fine of one lakh rupees
During investigation by transport officer Ramesh Prajapati’s team on Nikitiya Road in Bareilly, an e-scooter was caught traveling at a speed of more than 40 kmph. The investigation found that the manufacturer had violated the standards, due to which the transport department fined the company Rs 1 lakh.
What are the rules?
We tell you that the minimum age to drive a two-wheeler in India is 18 years. However, the rules for electric bikes are slightly different. People between the ages of 16 and 18 can also ride it. The prerequisite is that the speed of the bicycle does not exceed 25 km/h. In addition, they should be electric two-wheelers with a power of less than 250 W. If someone is caught driving such a scooter in violation of the regulations, they may also face a hefty fine.
Challan of Rs 42,550 on expiry of approval
In another case in Didipuram, during inspection of a driving school vehicle, it was found that its fitness certificate, insurance and permit had expired. Despite this, people received driving training from an organization called Krishna Driving Training School. Due to violation of the regulations, the vehicle was seized and a notice of Rs 42,550 was issued.
