New Delhi. Shreyas Iyer, who is not part of the Indian cricket team, scored a double century in the Ranji Trophy. He ended his seven-year wait for a first-class double century. Scored 200 runs in 201 balls for Mumbai against Odisha in the Ranji Trophy match on Thursday. Even after making Indian Premier League franchise team Kolkata Knight Riders champions, the team released Shreyas Iyer ahead of the mega auction.

Shreyas Iyer batted brilliantly in the Ranji Trophy and scored a double century for Mumbai. This was his first double century in seven years. The last double century came against Australia in 2017, when he played for India A and scored an unbeaten 202 runs. For Mumbai, Iyer, who came in at number five to bat after captain Ajinkya Rahane was bowled out for nil, provided a blast. This batsman, who returned unbeaten after scoring 152 runs on the first day of the match, completed his double century on the second day of the match.

Iyer, who was not in Team India, is back in form. Scored a goal in his last game against Maharashtra. He then left the game against Tripura and now scored a double century against Odisha. Iyer played his last Test against England earlier this year and was ruled out midway through the series with a back injury. After that, he was dropped from the team and his central contract also ended. On the first day against Odisha, Iyer played a quick innings and completed his century in just 101 balls, including 18 fours and four sixes. Iyer completed his double century in 201 balls with the help of 22 fours and eight sixes.
