New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team fast bowler Joginder Sharma became a hero in a game. The Indian team captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni had won the T20 World Cup in 2007. In the final against Pakistan, Joginder bowled brilliantly in the final over to give the team a historic win. Joginder became a hero with this one match. Joginder proved his captain Dhoni’s decision was right by defending 13 runs in the last over. However, after that, this bowler didn’t get a chance in Team India. And this hero became anonymous.

Joginder Sharma was born on October 23, 1983 in Rohtak district of Haryana. September 24, 2007 is historic for Indian cricket. The teams of India and Pakistan faced each other in the final of the T20 World Cup in South Africa. Pakistan needed 13 runs in the last over to win. Dhoni looked at Joginder and asked him to bowl the last ball. Joginder also came forward and took the ball. His first ball was wide. Came back next ball and no runs were scored. Misbah-ul-Haq scored a great six off the second ball. After that, the Indian fans were left breathless. From here, Pakistan needed six runs to win while the Indian team needed one wicket. Joginder bowled the next full-length ball and Misbah tried to play a scoop over short fine leg but he failed and was caught by fielder S. Sreesanth. Afterwards, the Indian team’s joy was visible.

Joginder Sharma is DSP in Haryana Police
When Joginder returned home after winning the World Cup, he got the job of DSP in Haryana Police. Currently also working for the police. However, after that, Joginder tried to make a comeback in Team India but failed. In 2011, Joginder was seriously injured in a road accident. He suffered a deep head injury. After his recovery, the doctor banned Joginder from playing cricket. Despite this, he didn’t give up and returned to domestic cricket.

Joginder regrets not returning
Joginder Sharma wanted to make a comeback in Team India but it didn’t happen. He recently said in an interview that this regret will stay with him throughout his life. Joginder played 4 ODI and 4 T20 International matches. He has taken one wicket in ODI and 4 wickets in T20. He retired from cricket on 3 February 2023.
