New Delhi. Ivan Rodrigues, father of Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, has broken his silence on allegations of religious conversion made against him. Ivan is accused of using his membership in the Khar Gymkhana Club to organize a conversion meeting. The Indian cricketer’s father was said to have been abusing membership in the club and carrying out religious conversions in recent years. However, Ivan described the allegations against him as unfounded. Ivan claimed that he only organized prayer meetings by strictly following the procedures.
Khar Gymkhana terminated membership of Jemimah Rodrigues during its annual general meeting. Because many members had complained that Ivan had allegedly misused the privileges granted to the star cricketer. In response to the allegations, Ivan Rodrigues said that he followed strict procedures when using the facilities and that no “conversion meeting” was organized at the Gymkhana. Ivan said: “From April 2023, we have used Khar Gymkhana facilities for prayer meetings several times over the course of a year. However, this was done according to Khar Gymkhana procedures and with the full knowledge of the officials.
This is too much… even the ugly one was beaten, why is Babar Azam’s formula not applicable to Virat Kohli?
Fancy a comeback at the age of 36, haven’t worn baggy green for 7 years, will you get a chance in the India-Australia series? Said- glimmer of hope…
“Prayer meetings were open to everyone”
“The prayer meetings were open to all and were in no way a ‘conversion meeting’ as portrayed in the media,” he said in a social media post. When we were asked to stop organizing the prayer meeting, we respected the Gymkhana’s decision and stopped it with immediate effect.
Jemima has played 31 ODIs
24-year-old Jemima is one of the star players of the Indian women’s team. After making her debut for India in 2018, she has played three Tests, 31 ODIs and 104 ODIs for the country. Khar Gymkhana management committee member Shiv Malhotra said that he respects Jemima and this incident should not have happened to her father.
“We gave the Gymkhana facilities to Jemima and not to her father.”
Malhotra said, “That shouldn’t have happened.” But that’s how the world works. We are very proud of him as an Indian cricketer and I wish him all the best for the future. May he achieve greater success for the country. The Gymkhana facilities were given to him for the use of the cricket facilities, not for his father’s use.
