The cyclonic storms spread from India to America, China, Vietnam and now the Bahamas and the Latin American country of Cuba. Hurricane Oscar hit the coast of the Bahamas on Sunday and is now heading towards Cuba. Hurricane Oscar’s speed is approximately 130 kilometers per hour. Hurricane Oscar made landfall in the southeastern Bahamas early Sunday and is heading toward Cuba. In the affected areas of the Bahamas, power supply has come to a complete standstill. Thousands of people are forced to live without electricity. According to the National Hurricane Center (Miami), the center of the storm has reached Great Inagua Island. Typhoon Yagi: Storm Yagi caused devastation all over China, power outages in 15,000,000 houses, trees falling everywhere, streets under water.
Heavy to very heavy rain may occur in Cuba
After wreaking havoc in the Bahamas, Hurricane Oscar now has a chance of hitting Cuba at speeds of 80 miles per hour. For this reason there is a risk of storms and rain. Cuba could see 5 to 10 inches of rain by Tuesday, according to the National Hurricane Center forecast. Some places may experience rainfall up to 15 inches. Hurricane Oscar gained speed off the coast of the Bahamas on Saturday, then crossed the Turks and Caicos Islands and reached the southeast of the Bahamas. Hurricane Oscar is currently approximately 150 miles (240 kilometers) from Guantanamo, Cuba.
Another crisis in a Latin American country
Cuba is preparing to deal with another crisis. Just a few days ago there was a major power outage in the Latin American country after two years. Last week many people were without power for 48 hours. The situation improved somewhat on Saturday. Philippe Pepin of the National Hurricane Center said Oscar’s transformation into a hurricane was unexpected. We tell you that in recent months several hurricanes have hit this area, causing great destruction.
