Zetwerk, one of the world’s largest marketplaces for contract manufacturing, has achieved a significant milestone in the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry with its 60kW and 120kW DC fast chargers receiving certification from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). This achievement supports the Indian government’s ‘Make-in-India’ initiative and aims to enhance the nation’s EV infrastructure by providing reliable and efficient charging solutions. These chargers will be rolled out across the country through partnerships with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and various private charge point operators.A boost to India’s EV infrastructure
The Automotive Research Association of India, a premier research institution under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, granted this certification following rigorous testing. Zetwerk’s DC fast chargers adhere to the highest safety standards, environmental compliance, and performance criteria, ensuring reliable service across India.
Zetwerk’s DC fast chargers are set to play a vital role in expanding India’s EV ecosystem. The company has already secured contracts to supply these chargers to Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and other private charge point operators. This initiative aims to address one of the main obstacles to widespread EV adoption—charging infrastructure.
“Securing ARAI certification is a big win for us and reaffirms our commitment to product quality, safety, and reliability. We are proud to contribute to India’s manufacturing growth with this certification, which supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative and emphasises our role in promoting electric vehicle adoption through premium, domestically produced chargers. Our goal is to provide end-to-end solutions that address the current needs for future innovations in sustainable energy,” said Srinath Ramakkrushnan, Co-founder and COO of Zetwerk.
Future innovations
The company has ambitious plans for the upcoming financial year and intends to launch several new products to strengthen its market presence. Zetwerk is currently involved in research and development to expand its product range and is developing next-generation Super DC Chargers with capacities of 240kW and 360kW. These high-capacity chargers are designed to provide faster charging times, catering to commercial and public EV charging stations. This research and development initiative aligns with Zetwerk’s long-term vision to revolutionise the EV charging infrastructure.
“This ARAI certification is a milestone in our journey to revolutionize the EV charging infrastructure in India,” said Abhay Adya, Business Head – Energy Transition Business, Zetwerk. “Our DC fast chargers are set to impact the EV ecosystem by ensuring users access quick, reliable charging solutions. By collaborating with key partners like IOCL, we are helping to build a robust and sustainable EV infrastructure that will support the rapid growth of electric mobility in India.”
Earlier this year, Zetwerk announced a partnership with IOCL, underlining its commitment to India’s transition to cleaner energy. As part of this collaboration, Zetwerk plans to deploy over 1,400 EV fast chargers across the country. These chargers will have capacities ranging from 50kW to 120kW and will feature advanced DC Dual Gun CCS2 DC Charger technology. This initiative forms a crucial part of IOCL’s renewable energy mission, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of transportation and promote sustainable mobility solutions.
