New Delhi: The couple is definitely keen on traveling. Money has to be spent on this too. Many couples spend money while the dream of traveling remains just a dream for many people. But an American couple found a different solution. The surprising thing is that this couple defrauded the government of around $500,000 (approximately Rs 4.2 million). After defrauding her of millions, they took dozens of luxurious vacations to Walt Disney World while claiming they were traveling for work.

According to the New York Post, 61-year-old Thomas Bouchard used his government connections to hire his girlfriend, 53-year-old Kentelle Boyd, as his assistant so he could make 31 trips to Walt Disney World in Florida to celebrate many holidays including Bouchard is an army contractor. Prosecutors said their sophisticated plan caused the Defense Department to lose more than $490,000.

How did you deceive the government?
Bouchard, who was in charge of the U.S. Army’s Natick contracting division in Massachusetts, reportedly used his “long-standing relationship” with government contractor Evolution Enterprise Inc. to hire Boyd as his assistant. Prosecutors said he received a government salary of $487,658 and did “little or no useful work” from 2014 to 2018, causing the government additional travel expenses of $75,583.

The couple had reportedly booked a vacation of two to 15 days. His trips took place during business hours. This included hotel stays, relaxing by the pool and visiting Disney parks. In addition, the couple also traveled to Virginia and other places in Florida. Prosecutors said the 61-year-old man concealed the nature of his trips and sought reimbursement by falsifying and then approving expense reports.
