New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has impressed everyone with his talent. This batsman’s journey from junior cricket to the senior team was very difficult and his elder brother Tejashwi Jaiswal played an important role in taking him forward. Australian media has declared Yashasvi Jaiswal as the new king ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Tejashwi shared how he distanced himself from cricket for the sake of his younger brother.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the future of Indian cricket. He achieved this status through outstanding performances for Team India. Success doesn’t come easy, but Jaiswal has prepared himself with hard work. His skills and talent along with his hard work made him a superstar in world cricket. Jaiswal takes full credit for his success, but behind every successful person, someone plays a supporting role. For Jaiswal, this role was played by his family, especially his elder brother Tejashwi Jaiswal.
Tejashwi sacrificed his life for his younger brother
Yashasvi’s elder brother Tejashwi came into limelight when he scored a half-century in his debut Ranji season for Tripura. This innings was special as it is his first First Class fifty. It was even more special because he hadn’t even thought about it a few years ago.
Tejashwi also wanted to become a cricketer like Yashasvi, but gave up his dream in favor of his younger brother. Jaiswal Bhai had come to Mumbai to fulfill his dream of wearing the Team India jersey, but it was difficult for him to face the challenges of survival in this city of dreams. One of them had to take the responsibility of the family and Tejashwi took that responsibility on his shoulders. At the age of 17, Tejashwi quit cricket and started working as a salesman in Delhi. He sent pocket money to Yashasvi and also married his sisters.
Left cricket for family
Speaking to Indian Express, Tejashwi said, “I also wanted to play cricket but our family’s financial condition was not good. Yashasvi was doing well… so at the end of 2013 I left Mumbai and cricket and moved to Delhi where a relative has a shop.”
Apart from financial problems, Tejashwi was also accused of age fraud, which further dented his hopes of a cricket career. Tejashwi said: “I played a match in Harris Shield and took seven wickets. Then people started saying there is a problem with my age verification. I was benched for a year and a half. Yashasvi was doing very well and I didn’t want his chances to be affected by me. In any case, Mumbai was too expensive for both of us. It became increasingly difficult for us to eat twice a day. “At that point, Jwala had not met Sir Yashasvi’s coach.”
