New Delhi. In the last few years, the demand for electric vehicles (EV) among Indian customers has increased rapidly. However, at present, Tata Motors continues to dominate this segment. Tata Motors has a market share of around 65%, which accounts for a majority of the total electric cars sold in India.
Given the popularity of electric cars, Kia India is also gearing up to strengthen its position in this segment. The company aims to achieve annual sales of 4 lakh units in India by 2030. Under this plan, Kia India will launch a new electric car in the first half of 2025, which could be the Kia Carens EV.
Carens EV could come onto the market
The Kia Carens EV is expected to hit the market in the second half of next year, i.e. 2025. According to media reports, this car can achieve a range of more than 500 kilometers on a single charge. Additionally, the Kia Carens EV features a fully digital instrument console, automatic climate control, ventilated seats and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Security features
In terms of safety, the Kia Carens EV will include features such as six airbags and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). Additionally, the car will also feature a panoramic sunroof, giving it a premium touch.
Kia’s new compact SUV
Kia India is also developing a new compact SUV, which may be called Kia Syros. This SUV will be positioned above the Sonet in the company’s lineup and is aimed at customers who want a slightly larger and more premium option than the Sonet.
New models such as the Kia Carens EV and Sciros are expected to further strengthen Kia’s position in the Indian market and further improve its position in the electric vehicle segment.
