561 more e-vehicle charging stations in Marathwada soon, Auto News, ET Auto

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL) will start an additional 561 e-vehicle charging stations in different parts of Marathwada soon, taking the total number of such facilities in the region to 647.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zone of the state power utility currently has a maximum of 34 e-vehicle charging stations, and 283 more are coming up in the next few weeks. Latur zone has 23 e-vehicle charging stations, and 191 are coming up additionally. Nanded zone currently has 29 stations and will witness the set up of 87 new stations, show official data.

MSEDCL joint managing director for Marathwada, Rahul Gupta, said the state power utility has invested Rs40 crore in spreading the network of e-vehicle charging stations in the region. “Any establishment having adequate space at an accessible location can set up e-vehicle charging stations. The MSEDCL is ready to partner with such players to weave more networks of charging stations by offering financial incentives as per govt policies,” he said.

The state power utility has said that the user-friendly online process has been made available to apply for the new electricity connection for setting up e-vehicle charging stations. The necessary registration can also be done offline by visiting the state power utility’s nearest office.

“As per official estimates, around 30% of the total vehicle population in the country will be of e-vehicles by the end of the year 2030. The MSEDCL is committed to supporting the necessary support system for these eco-friendly vehicles,” Gupta said.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city has a total of 13 e-vehicle charging stations presently, which will witness an increase by 84 stations in the near future, taking the total number of stations to 97, authorities said.
