If this happens, the Aussie legend predicts Virat Kohli will come under pressure in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Melbourne. Indian team’s star batsman Virat Kohli is under attack from all sides ahead of the Australia Test series. Veteran fast bowler Glenn McGrath believes Australia has the “ability” to target Virat Kohli. If this star batsman makes a poor start to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he will be under pressure in the series that begins in Perth on November 22.

India has won the last four Test series against Australia, two of which were played in Australia. However, Team India faced a 3-0 defeat by New Zealand at home just before the five-Test series against Australia. Fox Cricket quoted McGrath on Code Sports as saying: “There’s no doubt you have a lot of potential to prove yourself after the 3-0 loss to New Zealand.” Put pressure on them and check, whether they are ready for it or not.

Kohli, who has been the mainstay of the Indian batting line-up for over a decade, has been struggling with poor form in Test cricket for some time now. In the six games he played this year, his average was just 22.72. The injured Shubman Gill is out of the first Test and captain Rohit Sharma is also a doubt and in such a situation, Kohli will feel the pressure to lead the batting order.

However, 36-year-old Kohli is keen to produce his best performance in Australia. In the four tours of Australia he scored runs at an impressive average of 54.08. McGrath warned that aggressively targeting Kohli could also excite the star batsman. Especially if he manages to keep his emotions under control.

“I think he’s under a bit of pressure and if he underscores a bit initially he’ll really feel it,” said the 54-year-old McGrath, who took 563 Test wickets in 124 games for Australia between 1993 and 2007. I think he is a very emotional player.
