New Delhi. Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) recorded a decline in vehicle sales in October 2024. It was expected that there would be an increase in sales during the Christmas period, but the numbers tell a different story. There has been a decline in sales in October this year compared to October 2023 and September 2024.
As of October 2024, Honda Cars India Limited has sold a total of 5,546 units in the domestic market. This is 41% less than the 9,400 units sold in October 2023 of the previous year. In September 2024, the company had sold 5,675 units, compared to 5,546 units in October, a decrease of 2.27% on a monthly basis.
slight increase in exports
Honda Cars has experienced some relief in exports in October 2024. Last month, the company exported a total of 4,534 units, an increase of 23.11% compared to 3,683 units in October 2023. However, the number fell to 4,534 units in October compared to 5,236 units exported in September 2024, registering a monthly decline of 13.41%.
Decline in total production
Overall, Honda Cars India produced 10,080 units in October 2024, which is 22.95% less than the previous year. These figures show that there has been a decline in sales in both the domestic and export markets.
Even during the holidays there is no relief
Honda Cars had offered record discounts on its vehicles during the festive season to boost sales. However, despite the offers, the company did not attract many customers. Kunal Bahl, vice president, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India Limited, says there was some momentum in sales in October due to festivals like Navratri, Dussehra, Dhanteras and Diwali, but the performance was not as per expectations.
Sales figures for October 2024 show that it was a disappointing month for Honda Cars. Despite the holidays and big discount offers, the company did not receive the expected response from customers in the domestic market.
