There’s news that a famous food chain in America is going burger. In such a situation, 49 people became seriously ill due to consumption and one person died. According to the report, infection with E. coli bacteria spread among people through the consumption of McDonald’s brand burgers, sickening at least 49 people in 10 states in America. One of these people died.

U.S. federal health officials said 10 infected people were hospitalized. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an elderly person in Colorado has died as a result of this infection and a child has been hospitalized with severe kidney problems.

Cases of this infection were reported between September 27 and October 11 in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming and Wisconsin. The highest number of 27 cases was recorded in Colorado, followed by nine cases in Nebraska.

According to the CDC, all infected people reported eating “Quarter Pounder Hamburgers” from McDonald’s before becoming ill. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration and state health officials are also investigating the matter.

The specific ingredients involved in the contamination have not been identified, but investigators are focusing on onions and beef. McDonald’s told the CDC it has removed chopped onions and beef patties from its locations in the affected states. The burger may be temporarily unavailable in affected states.

E. coli bacteria grow in the intestines of animals and are found in the environment. This infection can cause fever, stomach cramps, and bloody diarrhea. Following the CDC announcement, McDonald’s shares fell 9 percent on Tuesday.
